A warm wind blows, a light rain caresses my skin, and awakens me from the silence, to the stirring in my soul.
The world unchanged, even as we fall into madness, the birds and trees, the mountains, the oceans, steadfast and still, in endless motion, echoing the song of tranquility.
Forces of nature surround us, and give no thought to our place. The frozen wilderness does not know itself as bitter, barren or hostile. The tempest knows nothing of the sailor, tossed about on its waters, at their mercy. It only, is.
In our vanity, we see the majesty of the universe through the window of self. We see the vast ocean, climb the highest mountains, bathe in the sun-soaked rivers, eat the fruits of the earth and believe they were made for us. Believer and non believer the same, with little reverence we pass through the currents of life, unaware that we are only waves on the water, witnesses to the power of its presence.
Through trials, suffering and triumph, we search for meaning, passion, a path away from pain. And still, we are.
Far above the ghostly silence of cities once bustling with life, far below the rumble of machine and man, there is stillness and sanctuary. Steadfast and unchanging, cold and dark, warm and comforting, tranquil and violent, the sublime truths of nature will and must, always be.
If only for a moment, we see how fragile we are. Our story tells us how beautiful, or terrible we can be, united. As we enter a new age of science, we enter this, a dark night of the soul. But let us remember. The world does not need us to survive, on the contrary.
Let us revere the dark, the silence. Let us remember our essence. The human spirit is boundless. It is united with the truth of being. It is the passion of the artist, the selfelessnes of a mother, the joy of a child. In that moment, it is immortal, eternal. In that moment, exists the permanence of life itself. It knows now boundaries of borders, of space and time, it only, is. If only we will let it be.
